Kid's Taste Lemons

If Hudson sees a fruit of any kind he will ask to taste it. He's always been pretty good about eating his fruits and when he saw the lemon of course he started asking for it. He's actually asked multiple times before though and we've always told him no but we gave in and I knew I had to record it. I didn't know though that he would actually like it. I mean, I should have known because it is Hudson but it still caught us by surprise. We had his two siblings taste a piece of the lemon before we tried Hudson and now I'm happy we did because seeing his reaction after already seeing how Grant and Addie handled it made the moment even better for us. So I guess when life gives you lemons - be like Hudson Boy.

April Outing - Utah Lake

It's a little bittersweet that because of the quarantine these kids were just so excited to get buckled in the car that they could care less where we were going. They were just so happy to be getting out of the house. I think we all needed a breath of fresh air and their excitement to even sit in the car was a sure sign that it's been awhile since these three have been able to enjoy a little adventure.  This global pandemic has made it so we can't enjoy any of the museums we have close by so our monthly family outings for the next little bit will probably all be exploring different nature walks. It's a good thing our family really likes them. Here's to making the most of these weird times.

Endings and Beginnings

Addie’s last day of preschool would’ve been today celebrated with a pajamas popcorn movie party. Since they can’t get together all the students in her class are sending their teachers a picture of them doing it at home. Easiest homework assignment ever ☺️. I’m sad they have to celebrate apart but happy they can still feel like they’re doing something together. 🍿
They were asked to send in a picture with them and one of their favorite loveys (stuffed animal or blanket). Of course Addie chose Snowflake. At her first birthday party she got a little gray kitty from her aunt Giovanna and she has slept with it ever since. She named her Snowflake and she has been her constant companion. It’s pretty cute and not surprising at all that she wanted to show her teacher through a picture of her and Snowflake. We watched Lion King 2 together and the boys especially loved that they were able to be a part of this and that popcorn was involved.
Today was also a very happy day because Addie was officially accepted into BYU’s kindergarten program! We are so excited for her. BYU has been such an amazing school for her and we are so happy she was accepted and gets another experience attending their campus. I’m still sad her preschool experience was cut a little short but this news today completely helps us feel better. Addie I’m so proud of you. This U of U mama is so excited to continue to support my little BYU school girl. I love you and here’s to the best summer yet. Even if it’s quarantined.

Quarentined Easter

This Easter was definitely interesting. Prior to Covid-19 we had plans to celebrate this holiday with my side of the family this year. However, this virus changed everything. With the 'stay home order' in place we are discouraged to be in groups of more than ten people and we are to limit interactions with those over the age of 65 because they are more susceptible to catching the virus. For the first time we stayed at home as our own little family of five. I stressed over what we would have as our first Easter dinner but it turned out great because we got to make food that our kids would actually eat. The kids are on the picky side and never eat the food when we go visit our families. It was a little bittersweet to not visit relatives especially because some ignored the order and got together anyway so it was hard not to feel left out but in the end we feel good about obeying our church and government leaders. We still kept close to tradition by doing our own Easter egg hunt for the kids the day before Easter Sunday. They were excited to wake up to their baskets and even more excited to do the hunt outside. They were a little shocked not to see their baskets right away though because we hid them but got excited once they realized they got to find them. It made it more fun for them and also brought some of my own childhood memories of searching for the baskets back to me. We also died eggs which they always look forward to and we all just thoroughly enjoyed this weekend together.
Last year I went a little overboard with their baskets and vowed to do better this year as far as spoiling them. I'm not sure how well I did. I feel like I still went a little over the top. For example, Hudson has been asking for a few weeks now if he can have a crocodile costume. I ended up ordering one due to quarantine boredom but then needed to justify that purchase so I decided to count it as an Easter gift. 😁 But because I did that I had to add things to Addie and Grant's baskets to make it fair. I don't regret it though because Hudson was so excited and happy to receive it. Plus he was really cute hunting for plastic eggs in his green new costume. Addie also decided to hunt for eggs wearing a costume as well so she could match her little brother.

We always try to keep Sunday morning on the spiritual side which is why we do baskets and eggs the day before. It's been different doing church at home but also nice because now we aren't late for sacrament meeting. We had a little lesson on the atonement and kept it short because we're dealing with toddler attention spans but it was nice. I don't know how long quarantine is going to last but it has been nice to spend so much time as just us.
