Poem

Soon after Danny proposed to me I made a fifteen page book with a poem that talked about all the activities we ever did together. Danny had no clue that I kept a record of every single thing we did up to the night he proposed - all the cool things including the lame things lol. Some of these rhymes are inside jokes/stories that others won't understand which is okay because this story is ours. :)

OUR STORY:
Danny & Gina

Some people say that set ups don’t work out

I say they don’t know what they’re talking about

We met at the Jazz game ‘cause of Court our friend
Where the Jazz were losing, but won at the end

Color Me Mine was our official date

Our plane and bowl did turn out great

My brothers joined us for some volleyball,

And then the shoe game where we spin and fall

Three days passed we went to the circus

Not my favorite night, I was so nervous

I started to like you but was scared to commit

To this day I’m grateful that you didn’t quit

I set my Saturdays for you and me

Started introducing you to more family

You met Dale, the hall of fame athlete

And my grandma who moves with a beat

We went with a group to a zombie show

Then had our first kiss standing in the snow

When asked to be official I said not yet

I had to fix some things that I did regret

Shortly after was Valentine’s Day

You sent a song and flowers my way

Your perseverance I did adore

My feelings for you I couldn’t ignore
A week passed by we’re at a restaurant

I knew that night I had to be upfront

I told you of my past and my games with guys

Playing their hearts, my heart disguised

The night we met I was on a double

I thought you’d hear this and just see trouble

After sharing my story I felt relief

I had opened up, no longer a heart thief

Then I sat back and looked into your eyes

What you said next was kind of a surprise

We ate our food while you told me your story

I guess you pretty much were a girl bully

Courtney really was a great matchmaker

To put together a jerk and a player

That same night you put me to the test

I had to sing Aladdin, I tried my very best

Don’t know if it was good but I must’ve passed

Couldn’t have been bad from the question you asked

You asked me out again which I thought was brave

Didn’t have long to wait for my heart to cave

Called you with tickets to the Jazz game

We watched the Hawks put Jazz to shame

The team mini bear we got to meet

Everyone knows we’re the couple to beat
That night did not end with a kiss

I doubt I have to remind you of this

We watched with my fam ‘Here Comes the Boom’

Felt like it was just us in the room

My feelings for you were growing stronger

The days between appeared to be longer

We finally got our stuff from the pottery place

Only took two months, glad they held it just in case

You said you loved me and not to be scared

That I could wait to say it back, I knew you cared

Couldn’t say it loud but I knew it was true

That I was slowly starting to fall in love with you
Went to Denny’s, the bacon you did avoid

Didn’t like the fact that it didn’t taste like Floyd

With my ward we played volley in the dark

Though I couldn’t see your face I still felt a spark

To watch my ball game was your big wish

I got a charley horse and felt foolish

We went to Deseret Star with Sam and Brit

I’m still so glad that you loved the skit

The very next day we had FHE

I bet meeting my family was so scary

We saw each other three days straight

You were surprised with a movie date

The next time I saw you was in the snow

When you came to my work to wipe my window

Surprised me again on my birthday

By blindfolding me and leading the way

I was completely lost as the car did stop

Then I figured out we were at IHOP

On my birthday I was deprived of sleep

But the memories we created I’ll always keep

Making my parent’s video left me with stress

You assured me the plan would be a success

I had to take a nap for an hour or two

So you watched cartoons as I laid next to you

Your family Easter dinner was the next day

I’ll honestly say I loved them in every way

The Easter egg hunt I thought was funny

As everyone rushed to get to the money

On April Fools we went to Fazoli’s

Then went to my house to make fake brownies

You finally played ball with my brother in law Rick

I remember that day feeling kind of sick

I found out earlier that someone passed away

And that her funeral would be held Friday

The same day as your reunion, I felt kind of bad

Because I didn’t want you to have to see me sad

So I chose to go and just meet you that night

You held me so close and it felt so right

General Conference is my fave memory

As I sat next to you I just felt happy

I wanted to tell you with every inch of my heart

But then froze up and didn’t know where to start

I knew I loved you without a doubt

But my voice could not sound it out

Though I wasn’t able to get it in the air

You finished my sentence, all I could do was stare

For lunch the day after we took Court out to eat

Because she’s the one who got us two to meet

On the way out you stole a flower from the ground

Then you raced to the truck in case people were around

We also played soccer with my ward that night

Others couldn’t score because your defense was tight

Almost a week passed before I saw you again

It was only six days but it felt like ten

We spent that day with just you and me

First out to eat and then to a movie
I finally had the courage to say “I love you”

Your patience paid off and my words were true

We took a farmer pic wearing DI clothes

It was hard not to laugh while holding that pose

You met at the station holding a sign

You looked so good I’m so glad that you’re mine

That day was cold and I was in a bad mood

I saw that you noticed and fixed it with food

We went back to my town for the talent show

Where up to the stage Alyssa’s boy did go

We watched “Once Upon A Time” on the Ockey’s TV

You tried to stay awake as I held the baby

Watching you play ball is what I think is fun

No matter the score don’t forget you’re number one

We spent a Saturday playing volley at the park

The sand was very hard and filled with sticks and bark

Our group tried to watch Avengers, but the plan backfired

Because no one was awake since everyone was tired

Allen asked for help to pull a prank behind my back

So we pulled one first right before he could attack

We put an ad online for puppies that were free

After the second call he knew the cause was me

He thought we were done but that was not the case

Because we planned a night to show up at his place

We had a “special” pizza for Allen to eat

We really didn’t know he’d think the sauce was sweet

My Dad teared up when telling stories at the table

He told us the gospel will always keep us stable

This was the night you played ball with Jake

I can’t forget how bad my words made my heart ache

When I saw you next I knew my love had grown
We work great together just like Stockton to Malone

You watched me throw a football then said “it sealed the deal”

You’ve always been the best at sharing what you feel

At ‘my’ Grandpa’s house we had so much fun outdoors

We finished that night by the fire eating s’mores
I felt great butterflies while waiting the next day

I couldn’t wait for you to get off the freeway

At Jon’s birthday party we took a step back

But at the end of the night we were back on track

We will make mistakes but I’ll love you to the end

After that night I knew, you became my best friend

Both went to the temple for an answer to a prayer

Our questions were confirmed about us as a pair

We were so excited for our road trip together

We loaded up my car and drove through windy weather

Thought the ride would be long but it sped kind of fast

We answered lots of questions on the future and past

Finally in Colorado we did arrive

You had to meet my second family, and survive

Nothing to worry about because they loved you

I could see me getting closer to saying “I do”

That weekend was the best, we had so much fun

It was really sad when our trip was done
We drove with my brother from store to store

Instead of one place I think we drove to four

My patience was tried, I was kind of a grouch

We finally relaxed with a movie on the couch

Two days later you had to share your day with me

Because once again I became an aunty

Aria was born and you held her in your arm

She’s just like me where she can’t resist your charm

For your birthday you got your new pair of shoes

I knew what you wanted from all your hints and cues

We saw your grandparents before eating out

Where we used a coupon, that’s what we’re all about

Your mom sat me down for some wedding talk

Felt like I was trapped with no key, just a lock

It had to be done, had to confront my fears

I left with hope and with a record for no tears

Someone else had been thinking of a wedding

And it came from someone whose prank I was dreading

My cousin, Allen, sent out invites that were fake

The pranks keep on coming; we just can’t catch a break

You didn’t have a voice on your sister’s big day

But you didn’t let being sick get in fun’s way

After her reception we went to a bounce place

You showed me your dance and you showed it with grace

I finally met Sasha and you took me for a ride

I loved every moment with you driving as my guide

We wanted to relax that night with some movies

So with your family’s vote we decided on ‘The Goonies’

Before I traveled I had one more day with you

So we filled up the day with lots of things to do

We went to Jacob’s game but it wasn’t that fun

We decided to leave early and get our nails done

Then we went to my sister’s where we just laid back

Before going to my house where you helped me pack
After three weeks in Brazil it sure felt long

Even in different countries our love is strong

I was greeted with the surprise of my life

When you knelt down and asked me to be your wife

Danny we’re a team and we’ll always be

And now I’ll have your name for all eternity
