It's been an eventful Halloween season and quite the busy week. I have loved all of it.
October 22 - Our first activity was the ward Halloween party which was the first time we all got into our family zoo themed costumes. The kids loved the trunk or treat and it got them excited for real trick or treating.
Oct 27 - We heard of a trunk or treat hosted by BYU but when we got there we saw no end to the long line just to get in. We got back in the car after walking a long ways already and from the car we saw that the line wrapped around the block. I'm not surprised if it went past a mile. We never found out. We changed our plan and took our crazy animal kids to the Bean Museum instead. They currently have a narwal exhibit so it was cool for us to check that out. The kids all tried looking for the animal that they were dressed up. We only got a few complaints about them not getting any candy that night but we reminded them of the huge bag they still have from the church activity and it's not even Halloween yet. The change of plans worked out nice and we had a good evening.
Oct 28 - Hudson and Grant had a little Halloween party with their neighborhood preschool group. They switched up their costumes and wanted to be a dragon and space rocket ship. We walked to their party and they loved leaving the house this way.
Oct 29 - Addie had her school Halloween party and it concluded with a Halloween parade. She went as a flying squirrel and I could't wait to yell and cheer her name. She got embarrassed. My work as a mom was complete haha. The boys had a lot of fun running through the fall leaves as we waited for the parade to start up and the twins were once again being as patient as ever.
Hudson snuck into some stanger's group pictures. The guy didn't even notice he wasn't part of their group.
Oct 30 - We headed to West Valley for my side of the family's annual Halloween party. This is always my favorite activity. I especially love it when my parents and siblings dress up. It makes the party even better.
Oct 30 night - Since Halloween is on a Sunday this year many people are choosing to go trick or treating twice. We decided to just do Saturday and hand out candy on Sunday for those that choose to go the actual night. As per tradition we had a jack-o-lantern pizza for dinner. Such an easy and stress free tradition. We then got dressed again to go trick or treating. This year everyone stayed in the family costume. I always tell them that on Halloween night they can wear whatever they want and usually at least one kid will change their ming last minute but this year they're kind of obsessed with the theme this year. Our whole neighborhood was out in the streets. Addie had two friends (Clara and Ned) from her school class as well as our church ward come and trick or treat with us. It was a lot of fun. Her friend Clara even came prepared in an animal costume of her own so that she could blend in with our zoo. It was adorable. It became cold halfway so Danny walked the babies back home and I continued with the group we had. The kids got so much candy. We decided to let them sell some to Danny and I. For every ten pieces we'd give them a dollar. It really helped bring their candy lot down to what they actually want and will eat. Plus this will save us some money on hopefully fewer cavities for them.
Oct 31 - We went and saw Grandma Great after church and naps today. We usually see her every year on Halloween and this year was no exception. She was so cute laying in the grass with Rylee and Quinn while the kids all played on her swing set. She also gave our kids even more sweets which is only helping their mutual love for Halloween grow even bigger. I love Halloween. 🎃
