My parents flew out to Texas for Addie's baptism and it was really fun to have them here. They got here Friday and explored a bit of San Antonio on their own before meeting up with us on Addie's baptism morning. We were pretty excited to have them here with us. Addie and I had just been with them last week when we were in Utah but it was different to have them in our new neck of the woods. After the baptism we went back to our house to change out of our clothes before heading out to lunch. Danny and I still hadn't tried any of these Texas BBQ places and the top recommendation that I've been hearing is Rudy's. So when my parents asked us where they could treat us to we mentioned Rudy's. It turns out thats the same recommendation they got from the locals when they were walking around and had eaten there their first night here. It turns out that they might have done more than us in just their first twelve hours of landing in Texas haha. They had been to Rudy's, they went to the Alamo and they explored the River Walk. We had done none of those things. They were happy to take us to our first BBQ place though and they were the ones to show us how Rudy's was done. I'm actually glad that we still stuck with that plan because it was nice to experience it with the kids when we knew we were being treated to it. Now we can decide if it's worth it with kids moving forward haha. Anyway Rudy's was great. A bit pricey but the atmosphere is fun.
After lunch we headed to San Marcos. My dad really wanted to see the Glass Bottom Boat Tours and we thought it would be perfect because we still wanted to go back and do it again with the older two kids who missed it the first time we went with Grant and the little girls. It was pretty busy but we got there just in time before the wait got really long. This time Danny and I treated my parents and it felt nice. Addie and Hudson really liked it. The girls were missing their nap time so they were a bit fussy but still did great and Grant was excited to show everyone the turtles. We saw a lot of them. We also saw quite a bit of snakes in the water this time around near the boardwalk. Probably not Oma's favorite moments. Her favorite moment would be the scuba divers that were in the water as the boat would float over them. That part was pretty cool and not something that happened our first time there.
One of many snakes in the water. |
Today is Sunday and my parents came with us to church. We had the monthly munch and mingle following the end of classes and the food theme was 'Fair Foods'. It wasn't bad at all. Then we went home where we had dinner and played games until bedtime. They fly back home tomorrow so it was a quick weekend but a good weekend.
