Donna and Dave had been planning for over a year now to watch the total eclipse here in Texas and we're so grateful they did because we had the best experience with them. They booked an airbnb in Canyon Lake for a couple days and told us that we could go up early on Sunday so that we wouldn't need to worry about any traveling on Monday which was the day of the total eclipse. All the schools in this part of Texas at least cancelled school for the day in anticipation of the eclipse. It was said that we'd have a million people traveling here for the event. What people couldn't plan for though was the weather not cooperating. It was super cloudy. So even though we were in the path of totality we didn't actually get to see it. There were moments where the clouds would break free for a second and we could catch glimpses of the sun but during the three minutes or so of complete totality the clouds were just dancing in the way. That's okay but because we still got to experience total darkness which was awesome. Truly it was so cool. Grant got a little scared during that part but the rest of us were in awe at how dark it got. That was our favorite part. Also being by the lake was so cool. We've been meaning to go out and explore Canyon Lake for awhile now and it was nice to finally do it. I've never seen so many shells in one place before. Ever. That was also really cool. We just might have to come back to this area. Thank you Dave and Donna. Sorry about the clouds but the memories were still awesome. Also thank you for letting our good friend Tiffany join us with her kids. It was a lot of fun.
Monday April 8th:
The fact that it looked like complete nighttime just moments before this picture was taken is so cool.
