Our morning started out earlier than normal today. It almost felt weird waking up the kids myself as all three of them were still passed out. It was only 7am but that's early for our crew. I got the three kids all up with a quick breakfast and then we waited for our neighbors (Lele and her family) out front. Hudson's best friend is Tank so when their family invited us to join them for the 4th of July parade that was an easy yes from me. The boys were so excited to walk from our houses together to the spot that they had saved overnight. It's been awhile since I've taken the kids to the parade. I don't even think Grant was born yet. When we lived by the BYU stadium we mostly stayed home since we were blocked in and then last year with four month old twins there was no way we could even wake up in time. That was an exhausting time. This time though I was so excited to take them, especially with this being our last time in Utah for awhile. Danny was happy to stay home and let the babies sleep in which worked out for me since we knew they would have a very late night tonight. The parade was so fun. The kids loved being with their friends and I loved the whole atmosphere of it all. Lele and Thomas had donuts, candy and fruit for us all which was super nice of them. Addie spotted three of her friends from school all at different times so that was cool for her. Grant loved the floats and getting candy thrown at us. It was a really good time.
Once home we were able to have lunch and hug the babies. They were so excited to see us. I bet it was weird for them to wake up and see that everyone but Danny was home. We took our annual 4th of July picture and they turned out so freaking cute. I can't believe I get to be their mom. I usually buy them new shirts for the fourth every year but it's been so hectic around here with getting ready to move that the other day when I was packing some things up I saw that they already had clothes that could work from their dressers. It saved us some money plus a trip to the store so win win.
After naps we headed to the Ferguson family reunion. Last Christmas I had mentioned that Danny's extended side of the family decided not to do any parties because they wanted to switch it to the 4th of July. The day finally came and it was actually a load of fun. It was held at Danny's cousin Katie's house in Holiday and we'd never been there before. Danny wondered why it wasn't just held at Grandma Great's house but then we got there and realized why. The place was absolutely perfect and a dream yard. There was so much space with plenty of activities and room for the kids to play freely. It was so much fun. The kids had a blast. They had a bounce house, basketball court, playground, trampoline, sandbox, and so many scooters and riding toys for the kids. The adults had a cornhole tournament (surprise - I didn't do well) where their was a cash prize. By the point that Danny and I were playing the second round of that the babies were done and didn't like the fact that neither of us were holding them. We got them changed into pajamas and were planning on leaving early so that they could be put down for sleep but we ended up staying until nearly the end of it all. One of Danny's cousins (Kyle) saw that we were about to leave so he asked us why and Danny told him that we needed to get the twins to bed and that he had work early in the morning. He's also kind of a party pooper and doesn't like to stay anywhere for that long lol but then his mind was completely changed because of what Kyle had to say to him. "You only get so many 4th of Julys whereas you'll have many more work days in your life" our jaws dropped haha. It was the most perfect thing to say or hear. Danny didn't even think about it and said "well shoot here you go dropping wisdom on me like that now I have to stay" and that was that. Danny completely relaxed and fully enjoyed the whole night there. It was really cool. We stayed until fireworks. The kids were so happy because we had told them earlier today that we wouldn't have a late night. It turned out to be one of the best nights. The boys were a little nervous about the fireworks so we watched the really big ones from near our car and then headed home. We got home just before 11pm and all the kids stayed up during the car ride home which was really nice for us because they were ready to crash hard once we did get them to bed.
Hopefully they continue this new Ferguson reunion every Fourth and it becomes the new tradition because it was the best time and I'd love to take the kids back to experience it after our time in Texas is up. That is if we return to live in Utah. We'll just have to see what the future holds for us.
