Halloween 2017

I mentioned earlier on the backstory of why I really wanted to be Jasmine for Halloween and that it had been something I wanted to do since I was five or six years old so this theme was especially fun to do. We got good use of our costumes with different activities. Our ward had a trunk-or-treat and then my family had their annual family Halloween party. Addie loved both activities and was thrilled when Grandma Donna decided to also throw a family Halloween party. Addie loved any excuse to show people her tiger costume and even tried to wear it everyday for a week. I'd say it was a successful year.

"I Can Show You The World" Aladdin Theme

I got to choose the theme for our Halloween costumes this year and since I'm such a huge planner I started looking at things last November. I promised Danny that I would wait before purchasing things so it was a pretty good feat that I managed to wait until June before ordering parts for our costumes. I've always wanted to do Aladdin for our family Halloween and this year was perfect because Hudson and Addie were just right for Abu and Rajah. I might have mentioned this before in previous Halloween posts but I feel like I was a little jipped when it comes to this holiday as a child. Growing up in Brazil this holiday didn't exist outside of our own home and then I moved here when I was seven and my parents didn't allow trick or treating once you turned twelve so my years going door to door was very short lived. I remember as a kid we got to trick or treat in our own home going from bedroom to bedroom and we would get candy that way. It was cool until I learned about trick or treating in entire neighborhoods. One year when I was probably five or six I got to be Snow White for Halloween. It was okay but what I really wanted was my sister's costume. She got to be Princess Jasmine and I remember wanting to wear her costume so bad. Well twenty three years later and I finally got to fulfill that dream haha. Danny turned out to be an amazing Aladdin and even got comments at our ward's trunk or treat activity of how similar he looks to the cartoon character. Aside from my the ward's trick or treat event we also had one of my favorite traditions with my family's annual Halloween party. Addie loved both activities and was thrilled when Grandma Donna decided to also throw a family Halloween party. Addie loved any excuse to show people her tiger costume and even tried to wear it everyday for a week. I'd say it was a successful year.
