Family Day at the Cabin

We spent the 24th of July weekend at the cabin that Danny's dad built with Grandpa Paul and Uncle Greg. Addie was in heaven. She got to ride a four wheeler, a side by side and spent time at the lake with the Ferguson family. Addie has grown up so much this summer. She was a shy cautious girl but has suddenly found a brave courageous side to herself. It's been amazing to watch and also a little scary. Swimming or anything water related had always been scary to Addie until this last month. The last time we went to the pool she continued walking deep into the end until the water had reached her neck. She got upset when I tried to grab her because she told me that she knew how to swim. She even stuck her head under the water and didn't freak out. I almost don't even recognize this new little human haha. Anyway the same courageous new personality followed us to our cabin weekend. We were catching crawdads in the lake and Addie walked right into the lake. Neither Danny or I had even noticed until she was already in the water. I'm glad we saw it before she adventured out even further. We definitely have to keep a closer eye on her now. :) I also think she was the only grandchild brave enough to hold a crawdad herself. She wasn't scared of them at all.

Hudson wasn't feeling very well so he had a hard time enjoying the fun by the lake. It was also pretty hot and he didn't like that I wouldn't put him on the ground while everyone was fishing. The dirt was covered with little prickly plants that I didn't want him to grab. He was the happiest guy inside the cabin though because it meant that he was free to crawl where ever he wanted. He's also already in love with dogs. Marie and Jill both brought their big dogs to the cabin and Hudson was in heaven watching them. And now here's some of the pictures taken. The first three are not pictures of the cabin we stayed at. They are pictures of my grandma's cabin on my mom's side. Ironically Danny and I both had grandparents with cabins near each other. We weren't able to look inside the cabin from my family but I did sneak some pictures before we left to get to the Ferguson family cabin.
This boy LOVES dogs. He could watch them all day.
He wanted to get on the ground so bad.
Brave little girl. She's also a stinker for walking into the lake while we were distracted.
This is long overdue but I finally got a video of Addie that I should have recorded seven months ago. For Christmas Donna bought a dinosaur matching game for Danny which Addie claimed as hers over time. She became obsessed with playing the game. We were also very impressed that our little two year old was very good at playing the matching game. She could remember where each match was. We were also shocked when we realized that she had learned the names of each dinosaur. It was amazing to see how good she was at saying each one. We don't know if some of the pronouncing is scientifically correct but we love the way she says them.

Comment from Grandma (Donna) Ferguson: "Last year for Christmas I found this dinosaur matching game for Danny at a vintage game booth at a craft fair, figuring he and Addie could play it together. I was so surprised that she was learning the correct names #1 because they are hard, #2 because they are a complicated mouthful, and she was barely two, and was saying them. Now the real test, see who knows them better, Danny or Addie." :)
