Cookies With Oma and Opa

Last year my parents started a new tradition with my kids with making Christmas cookies. This year they came to our house to do it because our schedules were so busy and we weren't able to make it to their place for it. Grant also woke up feeling very sick so we felt bad for him. He didn't participate much which was okay because we weren't sure if he was sick with the flu or sick from teething. The other kids though had a lot of fun making cookies with Oma and Opa. The funny thing is that they actually forgot their cookie cutters at home on their kitchen counter while they were making their way out of their house so luckily we had our own cookie cutters here. Only thing is that they weren't Christmas shapes, they were Halloween. So the kids made Halloween cookies and used their imagination to make them Christmas cookies. For example the ghost shape turned into a Christmas bell and the bat was a Christmas ornament. The shapes didn't make a difference really and Addie and Hudson both really enjoyed themselves.

After the cookies were all done we also exchanged our Christmas gifts. Christmas day can be kind of crazy if we fit in too much traveling so this really worked for us and it works for my parents as well. Plus the kids will never complain about getting presents a little early.

Christmas Sunday Outfits

Nice. Nice. Nice.
With a dash of naughty.
And yes the kids wore the same outfits two Sundays in a row because the boys got haircuts during the week so I got some before and after pictures. I'm equally in love with both sets though.

Bean's First Haircut

Grant got his first haircut today, I'm not really sure we should even call it that because it was barely a trim but I'm sure he would say it counts. He hated sitting in that chair and hated every time the girl touched his hair. We didn't even touch the back of his hair and we're letting that grow out into a little mullet but we did trim the front because hair was starting to get into his eyes. We didn't leave with the haircut we intended because Grant was over it and wouldn't let the girl finish up his sides but that's okay. Sometimes with new experiences you just have to take baby steps and this was definitely a little step taken.
Addie wanted her hair braided.
Hudson did amazing for his haircut.

First Tooth Fairy Visit

The tooth fairy officially knows where we live now and has made it's first ever stop to this Ferguson family. Addie lost her first ever tooth and we're so excited for her. We've discovered though how traumatizing it can be if you're five years old and this is the first time you're even hearing that your baby teeth will start falling out. Hudson should feel grateful that he's not our guinea pig child and hopefully by the time it's his turn Danny and I can figure out a less traumatizing way to explain baby teeth falling out. Poor girl and the sad thoughts she must have been picturing in her head. Who would have thought that the first loose tooth would be a milestone for both the child and the parent? 😬

Her tooth had been loose for about a week and she did great at wiggling it often. Then last night after we got done brushing teeth Danny took a wet washcloth to wipe her face and I guess a straggling string from the cloth got caught in her tooth and just yanked it out. It was an accident and it happened so fast both he and Addie weren't even sure what happened at first, but once they realized her tooth finally came out she was so excited. I'm kind of glad it happened this way because it was quick and painless. The tooth fairy came last night and surprised her with two dollars. I guess that's the current rate right now. It's also all the tooth fairy had haha.

Seeing Santa

We saw Santa tonight and Addie was the only one of my three brave enough to even look at him. The boys wouldn't get near him but Addie knows exactly what she wants and wants to make sure Santa gets it right this year instead of "forgetting" her request like he has in the past. 😂
I love this picture
The face of a boy who did not trust Santa and wanted to keep some distance.
That light placement ☺️😇

Third Birthday Letter To Hudson Boy

Dear Hudson Boy,

I made sure to add the Boy to your name for this letter. You make everyone call you Hudson Boy. If they forget the "Boy" part you'll correct them and it's the funniest thing ever. You're such a sweet boy and everyone just loves you. When I describe you as sweet I really mean it. You're tenderhearted and I'm so proud you have that quality. If someone is upset or crying you are the first to go and see if you can help in any way. You'll give hugs and kisses to your siblings after they were the ones who might have wronged you. You still want to make sure that they're okay when they're in trouble. You're a great comforter and you're happy when others are happy. I mentioned this before but you also have the best laugh. You'll do anything to get others to laugh and it always works. You're silly and fun to be around.

This last year your vocabulary really took off. You started speaking clearly and in full sentences over the summer and I was so excited for your daddy to come home from his seven week long trip to hear you speaking so well. I loved watching you reach new milestones when it came to your speaking. You also stopped having so many ear infections which I think really helped as well. I was worried when your dad would be gone for a couple months how you would handle it because you are very close to him, but you did really well. We actually really connected over those months and I loved it because I missed being that person for you. I was your whole world until Grant was born but now I'm back to being your buddy again and I couldn't be happier. You still love your dad like crazy and he's your biggest hero but now you look at me with those same eyes again and I cherish it deeply. It also helps that I get to have some special one on one time with you four days a week while Addie is at preschool and Grant is taking his naps. I look forward to those times and I know you do too.

Happy birthday Hudson Boy. I love you to the moon and back and I hope you never forget it.
