San Marcos River

We floated the river and I don't know why we haven't done this as a family before now. It was so much fun. Danny has gone two or three times with the young mens group so we felt confident in his ability to guide us all. We actually had planned a last beach trip but after Addie went and played in the river last week I asked Danny how he would feel about switching our plans to the river and he was excited because he floated the river a couple nights before and said he was having the same thoughts. We all had so much fun, the kids said it was the better choice of the two which is saying something because we all love the beach. We only had to drive thirty minutes instead of three hours which is also a huge win. We parked near campus and then got into the river. I was secretly pretty nervous when we first started off but by the end it was super relaxing. We made all the kids wear floaties for this because there are some areas where it gets super deep. We planned on stopping just before the rapids since we do still have some young kids but decided to stay and try them out. Everyone loved it. I mean everyone. Rylee and Quinn wanted to do it over and over. I rode several times with the kids on my lap and then they did some without us and Addie even went down with no tube at all. It really was so much fun. For the majority of the river float we were all alone on the river but near the rapids area there was a crowd starting to form but even then it didn't feel super busy. It was awesome. We got to ride the rapids as many times as we wanted without feeling like we had to wait in any line. Our only regret is that we didn't do this sooner. If we're ever back in this part of Texas we are definitely doing this again. It also helped that we came on a Monday morning. Danny is officially done at Texas State University and doesn't work until the 15th at NDSU so we have two full weeks of him to ourselves. 💛
