Valentine's Day 2023

Happy Valentine's Day!

The picture in Addie's home lunch today.

The kids were able to wake up to something small at the table this morning, along with pink donuts, strawberry milk and pink paper hearts cut out for them. It was actually pretty funny because Addie's words to me this morning after seeing the donuts were "I don't think I should start off the morning with donuts, I need something healthy because we're going to get so much candy and sugar today". I mean she's right but who is this child?? I question if she's really mine because I welcome donuts at any hour of the day regardless of how much junk food I'm going to consume. And that's why I definitely should be more like Addie haha. My little role model. Anyway because she wanted to save her donut for later Hudson also chose to follow suit and save his as well. So they ate cereal this morning but definitely ate every last crumb of their donuts after school today. I treated myself to chocolate covered strawberries and pretty much ate them all in one sitting. Its fruit so that's healthy right?? And I placed some chocolate covered strawberries for Danny as well along with a pink energy drink and then some nuts because that man does not care for candy at all. I might be the weird one in my family.

After dropping off Grant at school the girls and I went to the playground for some quick photos. They turned out sooo cute. I'll have to put those in a separate post by themselves. We then played at the little park until it was time for lunch and naps.

After the kids were all home and had finally eaten their donuts I got some little group pictures of them. They were all so excited to show me all the treats, cards and goodies that they had received from their classmates.

Danny surprised us all when he came home from work today with a bouquet of white roses and five single flowers for each of our kids. Actually it was three flowers and we took two from the bouquet for the twins. It was so sweet of him though and not what we were expecting at all. It made all six of us feel so special. Thank you babe.

Dinner was great. Everyone enjoyed the steaks and then it was outside play until bedtime. It's been a great day.

100 Days of School

The kids celebrated 100 days of school today! In honor of that they had the students dress up as if they were 100 days old. This was actually supposed to happen a week ago but it got pushed back after that unexpected week off due to that winter storm. They turned out so cute.

Love Week

It's Valentine's week!
I've been feeling the love and wanted to get a cute little group picture of the kids after church today. It's going to be a great week.

It Made Me Think Of You

Seeing Grant riding his bike on this little hill just took me right back to little Grant Bean.
Boy did time fly by.

She Was Real

Camila showed up in my dreams last night. She should do that more often. 💔
In it I kept telling a group of friends and even strangers that I was with that "she was real, she was real". I don't know if it's supposed to mean anything or if it's just a random dream but I makes me so sad that a part of me feels like I need to explain how real she really was. Most people in my life now never knew the Camila that I knew. It makes me so sad because it adds another layer to grief when your own loved ones only knew the sick version of her. I think about how life would be different if I could call her up and ask about how to get through all these different phases of parenthood and I can't. I bet she would have loved being a parent to teenagers because she was an amazing sister to teenagers. I lover her and miss her a lot.

Back to Normal 🌞

Now that the winter storm has come and gone we can go back to doing what we do everyday.
Playing outside. 😁🌞
These girls might just be getting their own scooters pretty soon because they're having the hardest time sharing the single one we have right now.

Texas 'Winter' Storm

It's been a very interesting week. Monday was a student holiday so we didn't have any school. We were at a friend's house when we got a notification that we wouldn't have any school the next day either because of a 'severe winter storm' coming our way. The kids and I laughed about it a little because the weather was going to be 40°. It's the end of January and early February it's supposed to be cold but this weather in Utah would feel like a summer day right? We took the day off and played all day expecting to go back to school shortly after but then we got another notice informing us that school would still be out. I will admit that at this point even though we were joking about the degrees of the coldness we actually did feel cold haha. Something about the humidity mixed with the wind chill did make it cold but enough to cancel school? No. Our nieces and nephews in Utah were going to school this week and leaving the house in 5° haha. On Wednesday we were told that we would have school on Thursday with a two hour late start so we put the kids to bed that night with them being excited to return. Then we received yet another notice that school will continue to be closed and that there would not be school on Thursday. The kids were already asleep at this point so we didn't tell them of the change. They woke up the next morning worried that they had overslept. When I told Addie that they were closed again she could only say "Okay now this is just crazy" haha. We all felt the same way along with all our Utah friends and family who were following along on social media as I posted about our winter storm while they were getting literal feet of snow and still having school. We didn't even get a single drop of rain haha. It's been a comical week for sure for this Utah family living in Texas. School literally closed for almost a week because it was . . . cold. It's now Friday and the kids finally went back to school today for the first time since last week. It's going to be back to normal by Sunday and we can't wait.

The coziest morning.
That predicted time of rain never actually happened in our area at least.
