It's the kid's last full week of school and I can't believe we are here at this point. I couldn't be more grateful for the school year that all three kids have had. Grant's preschool teacher is doing another dress-up week for the last ten days of school. It started on Monday and Grant has loved seeing what the theme of the day is. Today is Friday and then they have three more days of school before summer officially starts. It's been a great week so far.
Monday: Sport's Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: Western Day
Thursday: Backwards Day
Friday: Disney Day
For the three last days next week they have fancy clothes for their graduation day on Monday, tie-dye day on Tuesday and pajamas or comfy clothes for the last day of school on Wednesday.
Addie had her awards day today along with the rest of second grade and we couldn't be more proud to be there for her in her corner supporting her and the year that she has had. I cannot believe this year is almost over and she's done amazing at this new school in this new state and away from everything she knew. She has adapted so well and I just cannot fully express how truly proud I am of this girl of ours. I don't think I ever mentioned this but at the beginning of the school year she was encouraged to test into the Gifted and Talented (GT) program that the school has. Her teachers really believed that she would get in based off what they had seen from her in class in just a short amount of time. She took the test and excelled. She has been in the GT program and loves it so much. She gets to leave class to join other second graders that also tested in every day for a time period and they get to do cool experiments together. I don't know why I hadn't journaled about this before because it's something that she really loves doing.
I love her so much and am always in awe of how grownup she is these days. Addie I love you and I'm so proud of you sweet girl. Keep being amazing.
The only picture I got of her after the awards was this one with her friend Melanie.
I told Danny that my Mother's Day was probably my favorite one ever. At first he thought I was just saying that but I was serious. I loved all of it. Mother's Day was yesterday and it was exactly how I love it. We woke up and got ready for church. We weren't as late as we usually are and the kids actually did amazing for all of sacrament meeting. I'll be very honest that this is something I cannot say happens every week. We usually have at least one kid who is upset about something but all five were quiet the whole time. It was kind of a miracle all on it's own. I was able to go to Relief Society for my second time ever in this ward because the priest took over nursery duties. I would have been nervous to leave Rylee and Quinn with other people but since Danny is over the priest he was in there with him. He told me that the twins didn't leave his side the whole time. I think they felt like it was weird that none of their normal nursery leaders were there but were grateful that at least their daddy was. It was really cute because I wasn't expecting a little gift from the little girls but when I went to get them after class was over they were there holding some tulips and had gotten their pictures taken for me. They definitely thought the flowers were there though but I loved their little mugshot pictures. Danny said he tried to get Rylee to smile but she was so still weirded out by the changes happening that she wouldn't even crack a smile. He said that he felt like he could have gotten Quinn to smile but before he knew it her picture was already done and he had missed that part. That's okay because I think their stern little faces is kind of hilarious and makes me love it more than I thought I would. I made sure the girls knew the pictures were for me since they claimed ownership over the tulips.
After we got home from church Addie gave me her card she had made me from school, Hudson gave me a couple cards he had made and Grant gave me an orange birdhouse he had painted in preschool. He actually gave it to me a couple days ago because he was too excited to wait. I loved all their little gifts to me. Danny then showed me my annual Mother's Day videos from all the kids which is always a personal favorite of mine. He also definitely knows that my love language is food and made me the most amazing homemade hamburger with egg on it. We've never eaten one like this before but now I don't think we can go back to eating one without an egg. It was delicious.
(I should note that Hudson mentioned my favorite food was chicken adobo because that's what Danny made for dinner. It was delicious.)
After lunch I laid down on my bed with the twins where we all napped for two hours. It was the best nap ever. We didn't know if the girls would even try to nap on my bed because they have never been laid down to nap on anything other than their crib, pack and play or carseat but they must have been so tired that they fell asleep right away. Another miracle. All moms would agree to that being a miracle for sure. This weekend we had some flooding issues with the water heater tank breaking so the girls have been sleeping in pack and plays in Addie's room all weekend. Maybe that will be a separate post. It's going okay. Definitely could be better but that's why the fact that they napped at all felt amazing since they haven't been able to nap anywhere since last Thursday.
Rylee in the back and Quinn closest to me. Both sleeping angels.
At some point Danny came in and woke the girls up after they had napped for two hours and then he still let me sleep some more. Maybe I've been really tired too these days. This whole day the kids got along, didn't fight over small things, and I didn't have to clean anything. I think that's why I really loved it. I was able to be there without having to worry about cleaning anything at all. It was great. I was also able to nap and feel non-judged by it. To be fair it would have been me judging myself. I felt guilt free all day. I also had one more gift that I was pretty excited about. There's a lady in our neighborhood who has her own clothing line and she was selling sweaters that say MAMA with the option of names of your kids on the sleeve with a heart. I really wanted one but wasn't sure if I should buy it and it was Danny who gave me the push to do it. I'm glad he did. The sweater is soo soft and the names on my sleeve is my favorite detail about it.
I was able to chaperone Hudson's field trip yesterday and it was so fun. His field trip was supposed to be at the Doseum in San Antonio last week but they canceled it because of rain and changed it to a different field trip yesterday. I wasn't going to chaperone when it was a week ago but when Hudson found out that I wasn't he got really sad. I felt bad because I hadn't gone to Addie's either even though I did get to go to Grant's. It can get kind of hard with still having young twins at home. He asked if I could do it for the next one and when they ended up changing it I hopped on board as a chaperone for him. I'm so glad I did. I need to remind myself to always jump at the chance of one on one time because we both loved it so much. He was so happy I was coming along and it was really good for me too. The new location was so much closer to home as well which was nice. They started at Landa Park where they got to play for about an hour before having lunch and then got back on the bus to the Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo. We've passed this little zoo almost every time we head to San Antonio and have always wanted to check it out. Yesterday Hudson and I finally were able to do that. It was really cool. It's not big at all but had several animals like lions, panthers, jaguars, crocodiles, buffalo, hyenas and Hudson's favorite - a lemur. They also have a petting zoo which was pretty fun as well. We were split into little groups and in mine it was both of the Hudson's. I was able to send the other little Hudson's mom plenty of pictures of the two of these little buds. I'm so glad I was able to have this experience with Hudson Boy. Sometimes having so many siblings so close in age can make one on one time rare so I'm really glad his field trip was changed so that I could join. Hudson Boy I love you so much. Danny thank you for taking the time off to get Grant to school and to stay home with sick little girls so that Hudson and I can have this time. I love you all.
Hudson, Hudson, Andrew and Kaysen
This goat below took Hudson's entire bag and ate it all. We tried to get it from his mouth and failed.
