Fall Activities

I think we've been to Jaker's every year since Addie was a baby and we've continued this tradition on. Sometimes we invite some cousins to join us and some years we go alone. This year we went alone and it was fun but it was also freezing. We spent the perfect amount of time there where the kids were able to do everything they wanted and also didn't fuss when it was time to convince them to leave. Maybe going when they're cold isn't such a bad idea haha. Addie did argue a little about not wanting to leave but eventually she even realized she wanted to get warm so followed us to the car. This is a tradition that I love keeping up because I have a feeling we won't be living in Utah forever so I'd like to keep bringing the kids here while we're still living near and they really do love it. Even if some years are more crowded or cold than others.

Hudson will only go down a slide if he's first gone down on a lap. After that initial one he's brave enough to do it by himself.
This year we also did our first ever haunted gingerbread house. It turned out pretty cute and the kids had a lot of fun. We did it one afternoon while Danny was still at school and the kids were pretty excited to show him our creation.
Addie has also been learning about the leaves changing colors at school so we thought it would be fun to find leaves with different colors and put them in order. We did this during one of our walks and Addie loved it. She's just like me and loves organizing things in certain order so this activity was right up her ally.
Danny also took Addie on a walk one morning with his siblings Jill and Rand with their kids and she also had a lot of fun doing that. I stayed behind with the boys so they could still get their naps in and it would be an easier outing with Danny to just have one child.

Halloween Parties 2019

Both of our families had their Halloween parties about a week apart and below are some pictures from both events.

Rueckert Family Party 10/19/19
An activity I look forward to every year is my family's Halloween party. This year more of my siblings actually decided to also dress up which only makes the day better. Usually we don't get much participation but even my parents decided to have some fun with it and they aren't ones to usually dress in costumes. We had fun at the party but this year I was eager to get back in the door only because we were going on a spontaneous trip which never happens for us. Our time at the party was fun though and the kids always have a good time.
Dressed as their German ancestors.
Ferguson Family Party 10/27/19
We had the third annual Ferguson Halloween party as well as Jill's birthday celebration on the same day. I learned that I'm the reason they started doing a Halloween party in the first place. I guess it was tradition to have all the grandkids show up on Halloween night to show off their costumes but I ruined it by not doing that. I didn't know this was a thing but that's okay because I'd rather a party anyway. Plus this way no one has their feelings hurt and they can spend more time in costume with the family instead of having to rush things. Jill has been put in charge of this party every year but she does an incredible job. She always makes sure that there are plenty of games and food involved. She doesn't like to admit it but she's really great with getting the family together and I'm thankful for her.
