Addie's Birthday Party

Addie had to wait two whole days for her birthday party but it finally came. It's funny how when you're a kid some days seem to drag on when you're really looking forward to something and for Addie it was her party. I will say though that the last two nights of putting her to bed were pretty easy since she wanted the next day to come a lot faster. Since General Conference is this weekend we decided to do it on a Friday night. She had school today but the festivities first started as soon as school was out. When we drove up to our house Jill was already here and ready to take Addie to the store so that she can pick out her own present. Addie has been looking forward to this for at least two weeks. She was so happy and eager to go to the store with Jill and Georgia. Hudson was a little sad that he wasn't going with them but his turn will come soon enough. Addie had a unicorn themed birthday party that Hudson helped me set up while she was at the store with Jill. It was basically just streamers hanging from the ceiling and a little banner but it worked and it helped Hudson feel better about missing out on the birthday shopping spree. Addie had requested brownies for her dessert so we got that made and threw on some unicorn sprinkles on top of it.

She was so excited to show all of us what she had got from the store with Jill and her smile stayed on her face all night as her cousins and aunts and uncles showed up. With all this Covid stuff going on we weren't sure we were even going to have a party but ultimately we decided to for Addie's sake. We did tell people not to come if anyone was feeling ill or had been in contact with someone sick and the turnout was still quite a bit of people. Rand and Ashley weren't able to join along with their kids but they sent their well wishes and even added money to Addie's shopping trip with Jill. Of course Addie had asked everyone for Hatchimal toys so she ended the night with quite a few new toys to add to her collection.

Grant may have fallen in love with one of her toys and it might be hard for him to accept that this new toy does not belong to him. Birthdays can be hard on siblings when you're young and want to be the center of the excitement. :)

Addie has a lot of people in her life who love her and I'm grateful that we were able to pull something together even during this pandemic that still hasn't gone away.

Good Night Addie Rae
