Soccer Tournament

Not the outcome they hoped for but still so fun and a great first experience with their toes being dipped in the more competitive nature of tournaments. It was supposed to be a two day tournament however the relentless rain changed all that. It rained so much that Addie's team was the only team in the whole tournament to play two games. Each team was supposed to play a minimum of three games with the best of those games moving on to a championship game. Addie's Sunday game was forfeited by the other team so they went into the weekend with an automatic first win. If they won one of the back to back two Saturday games they would go on to the championship game the next day. The first game they were up against was one that they honestly thought would be a given win. They beat this same team 4-0 this season. They were feeling really good thinking they were already in the championship round because one team forfeited and now their first team they were up against was going to be an easy win. It didn't exactly go that way. That team showed up as a very different determined team. They knew they needed to beat Addie's team to advance and they sure did put up a fight. I think it caught our girls by surprise. In the end the other girls pulled out a win.

There was a small break in between these two games so we hurried over to Chick-Fil-A for a quick lunch. With it being Camila's anniversary of her passing I wanted to feel close to her by going to her favorite fast food place. I love and miss you Sis.
We then headed to the last game of the day and watched Addie and her team give it their all. This was against the best team in the league. It's the only team they lost to this season and the same team that really defeated them the first day these girls ever played together. If they had won it would have been a glorious comeback story haha. Our girls did awesome against them. It was cold and wet and they had just finished playing a full game not that long before this game and they were playing a team that was well rested  since they hadn't played a game earlier that day. We lost. But we lost with dignity. They really did do so great and came out in third place overall. In the end the Panthers ended up being the only team to play the most games. They had to cancel the rest of the tournament games due to the rain. Coach Carl said they played more than the first and second place teams which was kind of cool for them. I have to say though it was kind of nice not having to play soccer on Sunday and have that be decided for us. Addie can't wait to join the same group of girls again next spring. Good job Panthers. ⚽
